Python and R FAQ
R Programming is an open source language that is used for statistical computations and visualizations of data. It is most popular with statisticians and data miners who use it for data analysis and development of statistical packages.
Python is a high level object-oriented programming language which is used in software development for big data processing, mathematical computations, scripting, and analytics. It is an easy to learn and widely popular with data scientists and analysts worldwide.
Both languages offer you lucrative careers but different companies may have preferences for one over the other based on the industry culture and problems. Here are a few pointers that may help you make a selection –
- While R is an easy language that needs no technical expertise to learn, Python is pure programming and has the edge over R in terms of its capability to create seamless applications.
- R makes reporting easier and Python makes accessibility and replicability easier.
- While R programming serves best in presentations and visualization applications, Python is more appropriate for applications that also use the results of analysis.
- Among data analysts, R is more popular for its ease of learning but those involved in business analytics and machine learning integrations prefer Python over R.
- If analytics is your main interest then, R could be the choice but if high-end development and automation are the things that catch your attention, you might want to learn Python.
The choice is completely yours. Depending on how you want to shape your career, you can choose between the two. At Panther IT, we offer you both.
